10-free nail polishes by definition exclude the top ten toxic ingredients often found in nail polish products. These ten excluded ingredients comprise of formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor formaldehyde resin, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, parabens, phthalates, and fragrances. Currently, ten-free is the gold standard for natural nail polishes. These ingredients are or were previously used in most nail polish formulations, but recent studies found them to be potentially harmful or irritable to humans. While these chemicals aren't illegal to use in nail polish (although California law does require special labeling if used), we believe in providing safe cosmetics to our consumers as best as we can based on the current data available.
